And on a Cold Autumn Night the WIERD finally Became...Very Rare...

Well, I have to say its a bit hard to write this, and yeah it'll sound dramatic but such are the ways of the WIERD... as some of you may have heard this Tuesday will be the last week of WIERD at Southside Lounge...and as we've apocryphically always projected, we will have gotten our wish, and finally become very rare...the bar and the neighborhood are changing and its time for us to move on...

I was going to tirelessly thank the seemingly hundreds of generous amazing people who have supported the party and the spirit of our music throughout all the wild fun nights over the years, the bar, the DJs, bartenders, the bands etc. but I've decided to save that for the 'very rare credits' page of the forthcoming WIERD book that will be in the Compilation coming out next week as knowing me I'll forget that one heroic cold, kind soul who lent me batteries back in December 2003... Regardless I'm still proud to say WIERD will always be the only party in North America and maybe the whole world where you can watch a Hassid making out with 3 teenagers while 3 off-duty cops high on blow are dancing to the first 'Sombre Septembre' 7" at 4am... :)

There is however one person I'd truly like to thank and who really is in my mind the man who kept me and the party going week after week and thats my good friend Glenn Maryansky. Week in and week out Glenn's generosity and true commitment to the party and passion for our music never failed, regardless of whether it was the 1000 people parties with bands and ecstatic, naked people everywhere or that one amazing night when the party first started when only 1 person showed up(which was him of course...very rare) Glenn never let me down and never gave up on the WIERD and at my last count DJed 87 times at WIERD...needless to say the party never would have survived or happened without him...

I'm not exactly sure what's going to happen to the WIERD now... I really want to move the party and have been looking for a new venue so I'll keep everyone posted. I have to say though that as our main supporters the last few months have been our beloved regulars from city we might have no choice but to move there to survive as a weekly party, and also wanted to add that as was the case back in the days of our parties with the legenday DJ Gilles, it might take us a few tries to find the right place, I just hope everyone bears with us and doesn't give us too hard of a time for moving wherever we go but rather keep in mind the challenges of doing a weekly party based on non-commercially based, 'specific' music in this coldwave day and age, just give it a little time and the WIERD will return...

Untill then our record will be out soon.
