WIERD Presents the NYC Debut of Head Trip Conception Tonite!

The WIERD VRevent of the week is most certainly this Saturday afternnoon at the PS1 Contemporary Art Center as Xeno & Oaklander will be headlining an all-day event in which WIERD Records is teaming up with Agnes b./Paris and the Museum of Modern Art to present a full day of minimal electronic music! Doors are at 3pm for this event and the lo-fi synth punk band Cheveu from the Born Bad label in Paris(famous for the great 'BIPP' Compilation of a couple years back) will open the show at 4pm. Xeno & Oaklander will be on at 6pm sharp, followed by a DJ set by yours Very Rarely from 7-9pm. I'll be spinning a set composed largely of trax from bands in the WIERD community made in the past year as well as a selection of classics from the forthcoming 23 track 'WIERD Records Presents: Cold Waves and Minimal Electronics' Compilation due out on the Angular/Domino Records label in London this fall, more info on this monster release to come later in the summer! Also mark you calendars as next Monday evening July 20th WIERD will be curating the afterparty showcase for the 2009 Capsule Menswear Showcase extravaganza taking place this year at the Angel Orensanz Foundation on the LES. It Seems the usual flood of cassettes and spraypaint and bodily fluid-encrusted cdVRs cloggin up the week's mailbag have been growing a bit faster in tempo, more aggressive in attitude, and rawer in electronic pleasure, leaving something to be said for the assessment that the ghosts of Electronics Body Music's past are reemerging from the frozen ghosts of its Germano-Belgique-by-way-of-Chicago past of late...everywhere from Sydney to Brussels to North Carolina to Central Michigan we're hearing echos of The Klinik, early front 242, and all the legendary heros of early Wax Trax permeating these new young artists songs...That being said tonite WIERD welcomes the NYC debut of one of these groups as HEAD TRIP CONCEPTION will be in the house from Sleepy Hollow, New York for a live performance at midnite! This will be the first show on HTC's forthcoming east coast tour over the next few weeks so come on down to the WIERD tonite and hear our new young friends pummel the cold, WIERD body electronic!
