WIERD Presents the Live Debut of Figure Study at Midnite!
Wednesday, August 12, 2009
This week's WIERD is dedicated to the excellent fact that the Very Rare is always by necessity well done...thus eternally bewildering sous chefs butchering up and burnin down the contemporary musical world eVRywhere...let us prey...
And speaking of well-done, only my all time fave adverb INORDINATELY can describe how pleased I am to host the long-awaited live debut of the WIERD World's newest denotational entry in Brooklyn's seemingly neverending Minimal Electronic lexicon FIGURE STUDY for a live performance at midnight!!! You've seen the elegant Ms. April Chalpara gracefully gliding through the hazy shadows of the party each week exchanging eyelashes with all the other analogue denizens of the ethos electronique, one being her eminently hedonistic yet typographically restrained partner known publicly simply as N...though as the VRinitials from his surname perhaps properly prophesied, a mysteriously 'N.onymous' email I received this morning has informed me: 'Dear WIERD, for the purposes of this project, the artist known as 'N.' will be referred to simply as 'N/A' '...VR. Thank fukin god a few lone figures out there are workin to keep the world WIERD!
N.yway, FIGURE STUDY just posted their first few tracks to their new MySpace page, pay them a visit kiddies, their first single 'Lesson One' is an undeniable jewel and up there with the likes of Further Reductions' 'Gato Negro', Xeno & Oaklander's 'Saracen', and Led er Est's 'Port Isabelle' for new WIERD trax of the year thus far you're all unknowlingly slithering through the cold WIERD Wednesday night each week...don't worry you'll have the pleasures of all these lovely trax soon enough :)

This week WIERD also welcomes guest DJ Josh Cheon from the recently founded Dark Entries label in San Francisco, and this week's party will play host to DE's inaugural release - a beautifully remastered and redesigned limited vinyl edition of one of the most truly and deservedly cult Cold Wave records EVER - Eleven Pond's legendary lone LP 'Bas Relief'. Honestly if I had a dollar for everytime I've spun Eleven Pond's masterpiece single 'Watching Trees' over the decades I could seriously buy the entire 100 block of Chrystie St. so the WIERD World could be 24/7...alas...Please say hello to Josh and visit his site, the 'Bas Relief' repressing is limited to just 500 copies so I wouldn't waste any time with yr head in the trees.:

Also this week please welcome tonite's new WIERD doorgirl PRE-OP TRANS!!! Expect the thrice over from our beloved VRp(ot) darlings...shes gonna let you know EXACTLY what she thinks, and I'd advise you all to please be polite and mind yourselves around Ms. P as this girl grew up in vintage 1st wave deathrock Los Angeles and has truly seen it all, and doesn't take it from anyone...mmmmhmmm.
VRp.
Pieter, Josh Cheon, and Frankie Teardrop spin the icy cold sound of Watching Trees!!!
