WIERD Presents a Very Rare Evening with ROE ENNEY!
Wednesday, August 19, 2009
I never know how closely everyone is listening after you are all entertained by all the fantastic performances we have week after week in the WIERD World, but after Futility's kick ass set last week I played 10 straight trax for over 40 minutes all made in the past 8 months by people in the room before me!...Very Rare indeed. Think I've said before, there are few experiences more life affirming in the world than watching someone experience the ecstaic pleasure of dancing to their own song for the first time ever, and seeing this go down 3 times in this 45 mins. brought frozen cold, endorphin-enfused chills down my spine, one of the fellings in life that, even though I do, truly never gets old...:)
This week WIERD is proud to welcome our 3rd live performance by a new artist in the past 4 weeks as we welcome the debut of ROE ENNEY for a live performance at midnight! You've seen the lovely Ms. Rachelle Rahme sitting alone ever so quietly focussed behind the eminently non-bullet proof glass in the ivory tower box office of the legendary Anthology Film Archives in the city night after night, now come see how this the absorption of such cinematic intensity translates into an analogue electronic output! It seems with all the recent elusive releases from the likes of Pharmakon, Zola Jesus, Nite Jewel, and the new solo trax rumor has it Ms. Katie Rose is slowly stockpiling over at Further Redux centraal, the tired old equation of electronic gear turning with slovenly phallomasturbatorialogicalia are slowly melting to dust! I hope everyone will come out to support Rachelle in her debut this week, classic fans of masters of the minimal electronic canon such as Tara Cross, Algebra Suicide, Vita Noctis, The Vyllies, or Bal Pare as well as admirers of the outsider wave worlds of Kate Bush, the Legendary Pink Dots, early Laurie Anderson and the new ladies of the gypsy wave scene in BK we've held court for so many times this past year will certainly not be disppointed!:

In anticipation of their long-awaited debut record in the works in the frozen cold FjF bunker in Nice, France, which Kirti and Chris tell me will be moving base back to London this coming week - the amazing Stephen Musgrave just sent over his newly completed video for Frank(just Frank)'s 'Die in Bed' live at the Party this past April...eat yr hearts out Johnny Marr and Peter Buck the crystalline, icicular jangles hangin off the roof of this lovely little latenight gem are glimmering WIERD and sparkly as ever!...enjoy:

Lastly just a reminder this is that all-important week of the year in which one of the world's 3 great Very Rare championships of sport returns to New York as The US Open began yesterday in Flushing Meadows! So as is the case each year Miguel and I will be wandering the mysterious back courts admiring the incredibly restrained and refined craftsmanship of the latest Rumanian and Chilean young masters' one-handed backhands and dropshots. So needless to say expect slight delays in replies from Wierd Records Mail Orders and your querries to the gallery for the next week or so:
